Blå Elefant

How Blå Elefant connected Magento, Specter, and Qliro and got its product data speaking three languages

Blå Elefant runs a growing operation out of Trelleborg, in southern Sweden. The company needed its back office to keep up with an online store that doesn't sell in just one market or one language.

Junipeer connected Magento, Specter, and Qliro so orders, invoicing, and now product data move automatically, in Swedish, Danish, and German.

"We used to build every product in Magento for all markets, but when exporting to Specter, the integration only allowed a limited number of parameters and only the Swedish. Now we do it once and it's everywhere." - Henrik Hjorth, Owner, Blå Elefant

About Blå Elefant

Blå Elefant is a Swedish online store selling curated children's toys, gifts, and kids' room décor across Sweden, Denmark, and Germany. Based in Skegrie, near Trelleborg, the company carries well-known Scandinavian and European kids' brands - including Maileg, Liewood, Sebra, Konges Sløjd, and Little Dutch - with a stated focus on quality, design, and play and learning value over sheer catalog size.

That same curation has to hold across three markets and three languages, on top of one shared setup: Magento running the storefront, Qliro handling checkout, and Specter running inventory, pricing, and order management behind the scenes.

With a small team and dealing with many seasonal spikes a year, product and order data can't depend on a limited export of information into a second system. It has to sync automatically, regardless of order volume that week.

The challenge

The gap showed up as Blå Elefant's catalog grew across markets: product data created in Magento - names, descriptions, prices, SEO content - was only flowing into Specter in Swedish and only with limited information. This meant handling important areas manually.

The solution

Orders export from Magento to Specter, where the invoice actually gets raised. Once Specter marks an order shipped or completed, Junipeer reads that back and Magento creates its own matching invoice.

On the payment side, the Qliro-Specter connector pulls each Qliro settlement transaction and books it as a payment against the matching order in Specter - net amount, fee, and VAT on the fee, dated by the settlement date, with refunds booked as negative payments.

To close the multilingual gap, Junipeer also built a dedicated Magento-to-Specter product export - a custom flow so that Swedish, Danish, and German product data (names, descriptions, prices, translations) all sync automatically. The switch went smoothly, with only minor field-mapping adjustments in the first weeks.

The results

Since going live, Blå Elefant no longer has to choose between selling in three languages and keeping its back office in sync - the catalog updates once, in Magento, and Specter gets all three languages automatically.

The results in brief:

  • Time to go live: About a month, including the custom development

  • Manual product and translation work between Magento and Specter: Gone - Swedish, Danish, and German all sync automatically

  • Time saved for the team: A few hours a week

  • Order and product mismatches between Magento and Specter: Minor and solved fast

"We update a product once, in Magento, and it shows up correctly everywhere. We don't touch Specter for it at all anymore." - Henrik Hjorth, Blå Elefant

What's next

Blå Elefant is heading into another peak season now, running on a fully connected setup: order flow, invoicing, and multilingual product data all in sync, with one less thing to worry about during the busiest weeks of the year.
